- navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software

We've also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

Technical information about this website's accessibility
Acas is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard. The non-compliances are listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
- Mobile users using assistive technologies are unable to select a training topic or interact with the training topic list. This does not meet WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.1.1 (keyboard).
- On smaller screens, some pages do not show in a single column and text can be hidden off-screen. This means users need to scroll up and down and from left to right to read information. This does not meet WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.4.10 (reflow).
- There is an empty heading level 2 (H2) on the email subscription form. This does not meet WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.3.1 (info and relationships).
- There is no heading level 1 (H1) on the email subscription form. This is confusing for screen reader users and does not meet WCAG 2.1 success criteria 1.3.1 (info and relationships), 2.4.1 (bypass blocks), and 2.4.10 (section headings).
- There is no main landmark in the email subscription form. This may cause difficulties for some screen reader users who choose to navigate the page using landmarks. This does not meet WCAG 2.1 success criteria 1.3.1 (info and relationships) and 2.4.1 (bypass blocks).
- When users select the 'lookup address' button on the email subscription and course booking forms, the page reloads and the focus takes users to the top of the page. This does not meet WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.4.3 (focus order).
- When error messages appear in the email subscription form, there is no sign to indicate this to screen reader users. This does not meet WCAG 2.1 success criterion 4.1.3 (status messages).
- The 'autocomplete' attribute has not been used in the email subscription form, which would allow users to complete forms more quickly and efficiently. This does not meet WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.3.5 (identify input purpose).
What we're doing to improve accessibility
We did an accessibility audit in March 2020. We audited a sample of training course pages, the homepage, the course booking page and the customer enquiry form.
We are currently making a decision about the future of this service. Once that decision has been made, we will either fix the remaining accessibility issues or develop a new, accessible service.
